If you've been following along with my 2012 goals, you know that I kind of almost finished them. But I decided an explanation post was needed here.
As you know, hiking the narrows didn't totally happen, because the soonest I could get down there was in December, and it was freeezing. But we hiked to the beginning of the narrows, and I counted that. I'm not going to worry about it.
Now, hot air ballooning. I gave this one an honest effort. I bought a Living Social deal to go hot air ballooning last summer, reserved a spot for a flight in August, and... the flight was cancelled. The next week I headed off to Utah for school and rescheduled it for December when I'd be back in town. And then that, too, was cancelled because the winds weren't right. And by now, I'm kind of over the whole thing. Oh well! I tried!
The last goal, "Lose the weight I gained in 2011," actually happened! I say "actually" because I probably could have put forth a greater effort here, and actually forgot about it most of the time. Also, my scale in Utah isn't that great, so I didn't actually weigh myself for months until I got back to California last week. It was a nice surprise. My friend Kathryn summed up her theories here: "Diet coke, walking to class, making out. Write a book Allie! Write a book!!!!!!!" (JUSTKIDDINGMOM)- On the serious side of this, I think mental health has a lot to do with it. Honestly, when I'm feeling good in general, everything else falls into place. If you're overly stressed or unhappy, find ways to change that. I think that's the best wisdom I gained here. Also, try to only eat when you're hungry. There you go.
2012, you were a good year. Dare I say, best yet?
