Thoughts on being human

"The feeling of being accepted by someone we love is a basic human need. Being accepted by good people motivates us. It increases our sense of self-worth and self-confidence." -Elder Kopischke (read more here)

I have been thinking a lot about this idea, especially as it relates to my own life. On that small scale, I am both hurting and grateful, depending on the relationship. But mostly grateful.

On a larger scale, I just found out about the bombings at the Boston Marathon. What a terrible, cruel thing. These runners had trained for months, years to complete this race, and they succeeded. And you know what? I don't think that success will stop here. That same spirit will continue through the uncertain months and years ahead. That's just not a light you can put out easily.
