New Project / Free Download: "Everything" + Lullabies

In 2012, upon hearing that my friend's sister and her husband suffered a miscarriage, words began pouring into my mind and within an hour, "Everything" was written. A year later, they asked if they could share the song with other families who have lost a child. I re-recorded "Everything" along with two other lullabies I had previously arranged, and am now releasing that as a free download. Please feel free to share it, as that is it's purpose-- to hopefully bring comfort to families who are grieving.

I, Allison Barnes, arranged and recorded "All the Pretty Little Horses" and "Hush Little Baby." I also wrote an additional ending to "Hush Little Baby."

"Everything" was written and sung by me, Allison Barnes, with guitar by David Rose.

"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it."
- Rumi

May is Mental Health Awareness Month in the United States. Last year I guest blogged at A Blog About Love about "Depression & Choosing Happiness" - check it out here. For more info on mental health issues, check out halfofus.com.

Someday

This movie is a big reason why I want to adopt children someday. Specifically around the 1:40 mark. Even if I can biologically have children someday, if I can be a foster or adoptive parent, that would be incredible. Imagine the good that can come from that.

I saw the Odd Life of Timothy Green today and it again reaffirmed that. Love and be loved. That's the way to do it.

Products I Looooveeee

I know what you're thinking: "Allie, instead of working on your homework, please tell me about some beauty products you swear by."

Ok, blog reader. Can do.

The things I said here still apply. DHC's Washing Powder? Still the best thing I've found for my skin. I still try new things every so often, but nothing makes my skin feel as good as that does.

However, Burt's Bees changed the recipe for their Honey & Shea Body Butter, and it is pretty terrible now, so I highly DO NOT recommend that. (Burt's Bees, I've read the reviews on your website. No one likes this new stuff. Just go back to the old recipe already!)

Best eyeliner ever? Avon Glimmersticks. Seriously. It stays on and doesn't smear. If you want more of a defined look, try Avon Glimmersticks Liqui-Glide. It looks just like liquid eyeliner but is a pencil, so it's easier to work with.

Soap? Anything with goat's milk. I know, sounds weird, but it's good stuff. As is goat's milk lotion. Right now I'm using the Sprout's brand goat's milk bar of soap and I really like it.

I'm still looking for a mascara that I like. Right now I'm using Covergirl LashBlast Fusion, and I like the look of it, but after a few hours it starts flaking. Any recommendations there?
